FAQs

General Questions

“When should I RSVP by?
We ask that you kindly RSVP by Friday, June 14th, 2024.

“But, your RSVP card says Friday, June 7th. Right?
You’ve got a good eye! And yes, it does. I’d like to pretend that this is some sort of Taylor Swift -style Easter Egg, but it’s not. Just a mistake! Take the extra week and make us sweat (or don’t).

“Am I allowed to bring a plus one?
We are at capacity with our venue, which means we are sadly unable to accommodate additional guests at our ceremony and our reception. We appreciate you understanding!

“Will your wedding be indoors or outdoors?
¿Por qué no los dos? (Why not both?) Our ceremony will be an outdoor, Creekside ceremony at The PlumpJack Inn with views of the Aerial Tram and iconic Tram Face - home to Palisades Tahoe's High Camp. Our reception will take place inside The PlumpJack Inn in the Mountain Room, located on the second floor.

Dress Code

“What is weather like in the area?
In August, you can expect temperatures in the mid-80’s during the day and low-60’s in the evenings. Sunscreen, aloe, lotion, and bug spray are all nice-to-haves!

“What’s the dress code/attire?
You can find “attire” listed under each event specified on the Events tab. Our venue is relatively flat (no grass, cobblestone, or dirt), but we recommend bringing sandals or flats so you can get down on the dance floor, comfortably.

“Are there colors that you prefer me to wear, or not wear?

Bridesmaids will be wearing champagne or beige-colored dresses, so please keep this in mind when you are choosing your outfit for day of the wedding. Also, please refrain from wearing white or ivory.

“Do you have a room block at The PlumpJack Inn?

PlumpJack Inn has a two-night minimum stay on weekends.

What about parking at The PlumpJack Inn?
PlumpJack Inn offers complimentary parking for hotel guests. Guaranteed check-in time is 4:00 p.m. and check-out time is 11:00 a.m. Parking cannot be offered to guests not staying at the hotel, however there is parking lot for The Palisades Village (200 ft from the venue) so there should be no issue finding a spot within walking distance.

What is the pet policy at The PlumpJack Inn?
The PlumpJack allows dogs for a one-time per stay pet fee of $150 for one dog or $200 for two dogs.

“I want to stay somewhere else. Where do you recommend?

“I’m flying into Sacramento / Reno! What are my transportation options?
Check out “The Destination” tab on our website. We have a section dedicated to transportation information!

Menu & Dietary Restrictions

“What type of food are you serving?
We'll be serving hors d'oeuvres at cocktail hour followed by a buffet with a varied food selection to accommodate all. We’re doing our menu tasting in June, so we’ll add more information here when it’s been confirmed.

“Where do I note my dietary restrictions and/or allergies?
Please include your dietary restrictions and/or allergies in the designated section of your RSVP. If you forgot to add something, please let us know so we can make a note for you!

Photography

“Can I take photos during your wedding?
We are opting for an unplugged ceremony which means that we want you to put your devices away to fully enjoy the moment with us. Our photographer (shout-out Tynan Daniels) will be capturing various angles, so you can fully lock in on us reading our vows and crying into the microphone.

“Do you have a wedding hashtag?
With last names like Bliss and Knott, how could we…knott? Please tag us in your pre-ceremony and reception photos and videos, and use the hashtag #TieTheKnott or #KnottedInBliss so we can look back on the memories the next day!

Fun Facts

“How did the name Tahoe originate and what does it mean?”
The name Tahoe comes from a mispronunciation of the Washoe Native American name for Lake Tahoe, da ow a ga, which means, “edge of the lake.”

“How deep is Lake Tahoe?

A maximum depth of 1,645 feet in Crystal Bay makes Tahoe the 2nd deepest lake in the USA, 3rd deepest in North America and 11th deepest in the world. The elevation of Carson City, Nevada is 85 feet higher than the deepest part of Lake Tahoe. If the Willis (formerly Sears) Tower, the tallest building in North America, were dropped into Lake Tahoe at its deepest point, the top would still be submerged by 195 feet of water. The average depth is about 1,000 feet.

“How pure is Lake Tahoe?
The water is 99.994% pure, making it one of the purest large lakes in the world. For comparison, commercially distilled water is 99.998% pure. Tahoe contains roughly 60 parts per million of dissolved matter.

“Where does all the water go?
About one-third of the water flows into the Truckee River through the dam at Tahoe City for downstream use with any remaining water flowing 140 miles to the river terminus at Pyramid Lake. The remaining two-thirds of water evaporate from the lake surface at an annual average rate of 0.1 inch per day. The average daily evaporation of water from the lake surface would serve the daily needs of 3.3 million Americans.
